These landlords, Jack & Diane Marr are the worst I have ever encountered. Will screw you on every legal aspect. They kept our deposit without a written accounting as Oregon state law requires within 30 days of the termination. They had changed the due date on us, which was a key element for us due to our pay dates. They had problems with the water (well water) that left our skin dried out all the time when it was working, and us and high and dry when the water stopped running for mysterious reasons (Ice, water softener problems, line cloggage, etc). These guys wouldn't fix the heater until we demanded it., stating that there was nothing wrong with it, and it turns out the motor was seized inside and had insulation wrapped around the fan. If this had been used after we demanded repair it was a very definite fire hazard, and had already been producing, a more than certainly toxic, smoke.

These people had told us we would have a yard, and their home sits about 150 ft from the rental. The first impression of the home was that it was gruff at best. But as they were showing it to us they were saying that they were going to replace the carpet and paint the place. This addressed our two biggest objections, and we ended up giving them the deposit right there. We moved out there three weeks later, and there was no mention that they had decided not to go ahead with the promise to replace the carpet, or the promise to paint. Though they had changed the paperwork to state that $150 of the deposit was now non-refundable for carpet cleaning when no carpets were cleaned or replaced!

It was too late now, we were here with the moving truck when the whole story changed. They slowly starting moving their livestock to completely surround the dwelling so that all you heard was constant noise.

After changing the due date illegally and without proper notice, they came to my door to demand the rent on the new due date, and when I did not comply they gave me a 30 day eviction. Please save yourself from the hell these bastards put me and my family through. Avoid this place like the plague!!
